nut butter
Are you a fan of nut butter? How about making it yourself? It can't be any easier, using only a few ingredients, and without any nasty additives. All you need is a food processor or a hi-speed blender and a little time for your own creamy nut butter. Try variations of nuts, combinations which would never be availablle to buy in the supermarket.
ingredients
2 cups raw nuts of choice (or a combination), plus more if you like crunchy nut butters
Pinch of salt
Sweetener of choice, either 1 soaked medjool date, or 1-2 Tbsp maple syrup
Flavorful additions: Cacao powder, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, etc
Coconut oil, melted (optional)
method
Put the nuts and salt into the food processor and process for a good 10 minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl occasionally for even breakdown. As they are processing, the nuts will release their oils naturally, so be patient. Continue until you have a smooth paste.
Add the sweetener of choice and any other flavorful additions and process again.
If the mixture isn't runny enough, add 1-2 Tablespoons of melted coconut oil to help it along. If you prefer a bit of crunch, add another handful of nuts and pulse a few times to break them up slightly. Store in an airtight container.
